o2h Discovery is recruiting a Business Development Director, USA for o2h Discovery to support the growth and create a foothold in the US.


Company: o2h Discovery has an integrated drug discovery platform operating from its state of the art research center at Ahmedabad, India and SciTech Park in Cambridge, UK employing over 300 people. The company has in-house capabilities to execute hit-lead-optimization drug discovery programs leading into patent and IND filing. The research centre in India has synthetic chemistry, analytical and biology laboratories equipped with cutting edge technology to support high paced medicinal chemistry and pre-clinical development projects. The o2h Group owned SciTech park based in Cambridge, UK supports with med chem, hit finding using FBDD and is establishing discovery biology.

The o2h Group is passionate about innovation and provides an ecoystem to support early stage drug discovery with its o2h Ventures early stage fund, incubation support and plug-in wet and dry lab capabilities.

With an established delivery track record and an international clientele, o2h Discovery now plans to put feet on the ground in the USA.

The US accounts for approximately 25% of the revenues for the business unit and this is expected to grow significantly as new infrastructure to support discovery projects comes on-line this year. o2h Discovery is now looking to hire an experienced Director Business Development to build further inroads into this region.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating relationships, managing accounts and securing opportunities for selling drug discovery stand alone and integrated services in synthetic chemistry, hit finding, biology, DMPK, ADME and screening services. He/she will identify and close new projects as well as expand existing collaborations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing a deep understanding of the ongoing business and collaborators.
  • Establishing and executing business development initiatives that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy
  • Negotiating contracts and agreements
  • Responding to requests for proposals in a quick and efficient manner
  • Engaging with the ongoing collaborators to identify new business opportunities.
  • Interacting with members of the management team to ensure proposals / contracts are consistent with execution plans
  • Updating business development databases to include opportunities, proposals issued, approved projects, and BD activities and other tracking indices
  • Representing o2h at industry events, tradeshows, networking events and webinars
  • Assisting in the creation of o2h marketing literature and advertisements

Job requirements

Key requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s in chemistry prefered or biology. Advanced degree preferred
  • 3+ years experience selling services, developing pipeline of opportunities, and closing sales
  • Complete understanding of the discovery process/needs to identify and recommend solutions for client outsource chemistry needs
  • Experience selling and/or representing CRO services to Biotech collaborators
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills
  • Experience in managing RFI/RFP/RFQ and collaborators visits
  • A team player that can maintain effective communication and manage daily work schedules with cross functional team(s) based out of India and the UK.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
